Stone Creek Ranch

Stone Creek Ranch, McGregor — A Short Story

Just past Harris Creek Church off Highway 84, a ribbon of quiet streets winds through mature trees and along Harris Creek. Bigger lots (many around a half-acre or more) gave early builders room to breathe, so homes spread wide—classic Texas stone, generous porches, and side-entry garages. By the early 2000s, the first addresses were already popping up; one of the earliest homes shows a 2001 build date, a good marker for when the neighborhood really began to take shape.

As demand for “country-quiet, city-close” living grew, Stone Creek Ranch kept unfolding in planned chunks—“Parts” on the plat maps—until it reached at least Part Eight. That phased growth explains why you’ll see a mix of streets with different feels (Stone Creek Ranch Rd, Stone Manor Dr, Winding Creek Ln, Elm Grove Cir): the canopy gets denser near the creek; lots tilt larger along certain bends.

Today, the neighborhood reads like a greatest-hits reel for Midway ISD buyers: big, custom-leaning homes (commonly ~2,400–4,000+ sq ft), sought-after South Bosque Elementary zoning for many addresses, and a straight shot to Waco amenities along 84. Active and recent listings cluster in the mid- to upper-$600Ks (with outliers above and below depending on size, updates, and exact location), a notable step up from the community’s early “mid-$200s and up” pricing from its early marketing days.

Fast Facts

  • Location & vibe: West of Waco off Hwy 84, tree-covered lots roughly 0.33–0.5+ acres are common; some properties back to or have access to Harris Creek.

  • When it started: Earliest verified build year in the subdivision: 2001

  • Home sizes & feel: Frequently ~2,400–4,000+ sq ft; custom and semi-custom builds on larger, wooded lots. Early neighborhood guide referenced 2,400–6,000 sq ft.

  • School district: Midway ISD; many addresses note zoning to South Bosque Elementary (always confirm per grade-level capacity and boundary updates

What’s exciting about it

  • Creekside setting: Several homes advertise direct creek access or immediate proximity to Harris Creek—great for privacy and views (and a talking point for lifestyle marketing).

  • Lot size & trees: Larger, wooded lots are a differentiator versus many newer subdivisions in the Midway footprint.

  • Midway ISD draw: District reputation is a major magnet; South Bosque Elementary callouts appear frequently on listings here. ( Attendance is subject to MISD placement policies/overflow.)

  • Access: Quick access along Hwy 84 to McGregor, Hewitt/Woodway services and into Waco proper;  a “suburban quiet without feeling remote.”
